My plan to install fiber optics to the outer parts of Maryville ensures every citizen access to the most secure internet service possible.
THE INFRASTRUCTURE IS THERE.
Providing fiber optic internet will make Maryville safer. Wireless should not be trusted with proprietary or confidential information because it broadcasts information everywhere, making hacking easy. Fiber-optic communication offers higher security because of the way it transmits data. Pulses of light send data across very thin strands of glass or plastic fiber. Not only does this allow data to move at speeds approaching the speed of light, it makes data signals much harder for hackers or malicious individuals to intercept.
Health & Wellbeing
Explore ways the City of Maryville can protect the health and wellbeing of all residents. Sarah shares her position on personal fireworks, expanding wellness opportunities to working people in every neighborhood, as well as her push for addressing mental health issues and homelessness.
Racial Justice in Policing
While citizen oversight groups, community organizations and media can play an important role in providing information leading to better accountability for officers working towards restorative justice, those officials, elected or appointed to positions of authority over local police forces, are ultimately those responsible for ensuring that the forces under their authority ensure racial justice in policing. As Councilwoman, I will use my authority to push for policies and practices that explicitly address the protection of brown and black lives.
I do not support “defunding police,” but I do support high accountability and increased funding in social services and community partnerships to support police officers in addressing drug addiction, substance abuse, mental illness and homelessness.
